With our help, Baystate Children's Hospital was able to host their first teddy bear clinic as well as a second clinic in Springfield MA in conjunction with their community health week. Their teddy bear clinic allowed young patients and families to come together and tend to their own teddy bears, whose medical records were filled out with the help of nurses. Every teddy bear went through procedures just like their new companions to offer some comfort! Teddy bear clinics aren't just cute and fun events for families, they offer a unique opportunity for young patients to see mock procedures performed on their teddy bears. Some procedures can be overwhelming and scary for patients. Seeing them performed on their new bear first can put them at ease and show them they have nothing to be afraid of!
