Young ladies with special needs had the unique opportunity to be on the giving end of society. As part of our Empowerment Program, these young members of the Friendship Circle of Brooklyn headed over to an adult retirement center, singing, dancing and distributing teddy bears as early Chanukah gifts to each of the residents. It was the girls’ time to shine and they started by singing and dancing in the main common room, going from chair to chair, making each man and woman smile. Then they went around the entire center greeting each resident and giving out the teddy bears. They planted large smiles on the faces of all whom they encountered. One of the young ladies said "I was so excited this morning to go and do some chessed. This was the best part of my day. Let's do it more often".
