New Hyde Park-Garden City Park Schools Leading With Kindness Program

“Keep Smiling,” and “You’re the best” read the handwritten note cards and decorated teddy bear t-shirts created by the wonderful students at New Hyde Park-Garden City Park Schools in New York.

During this fun-filled, purpose-driven activity, students were taught from our Bear Givers Leading With Kindness Curriculum, where they learned about the importance of kindness and giving back, including the behavioral, cognitive, and societal benefits. The group enjoyed learning about these concepts through visual presentations, individual reflections, and group discussions. The students worked collaboratively to research and brainstorm individuals whom they believed would benefit from a kind gesture. After an interactive classroom vote, the students decided to give bears and cards to their lower grade Student Buddies, mentees with whom they were paired with through the school’s mentorship program. These kind notes and cuddly bears are sure to help the younger students enter the next school year feeling supported and confident!

We sincerely thank each of our Kindness Program participants and helpers and look forward to more ways to spread joy in the future!
